Aaaaand were back with another video in our new series! This is the most recent tour that we’ve filmed for this series and was a good one to plan, travel and film to. Luckily, Owain was staying overnight in Cardiff so had the freedom to travel a bit further afield. The plan was to see all 3 locos on the tour at speed at least once. Traveling from our base in Fishguard, we set off for Bristol Parkway via Clarby Road and Swansea to see the 40 run through. From Bristol, we took the next GWR train to Cardiff to see the tour arrive and depart. Since the tour went via Bristol Temple Meeds, Bath and the Berks and Hants line, we had time to over take the tour along the South Wales and Great Western Mainlines to Reading and then go on to Newbury to see the Western fly through. Unfortunately, the 387 was 10 minutes late leaving Reading so getting to Newbury and setting up was cutting it fine. Instead, we bailed at Aldermaston and what a location it turned out to be. Curved platforms, high speed running, we will certainly be back! From Aldermaston, it was an easy run back to Reading, where we almost missed our train back to Cardiff! And that was our day out! Shame that the Deltic couldn’t make it but a good day nonetheless.
