Blanca Peak and Ellingwood Point, with sunrise over Mt Lindsey, Sangre de Cristo Range, Colorado

We climbed 14ers Blanca Peak and Ellingwood Point on 9/8/2024, a day after we summited Little Bear Peak from the same camp spot near Lake Como. Compared to Little Bear this hike was much more mellow, and can be kept mostly at class2+, with a couple of minor class3 moves during the traverse from Blanca to Ellingwood (which can be avoided if one drops lower from the ridge). We watched an epic sunrise over Mt Lindsey on our way up to Blanca, which was windy and cold that morning. We then headed over to Ellingwood and enjoyed our time on the summit which was nearly windless and much warmer. Total stats from Lake Como: 7 miles with 3000’ elevation gain.
