THE SOUND OF ICE - Jeannine Platz in der Antarktis

My art project THE SOUND OF ICE is about beauty and strength, silence and vastness within ice. It is about tactile sounds and comes from the incomprehensible in a breath-taking nature setting – captured in all its white nuances and tangibly brought onto the canvas. I will travel deep into the Antarctic and to the North Pole and paint what I see there. My studio will be in the middle of icy landscapes, I will pause quietly on ice sheets and try to perceive the immeasurable value of nature. I will lose myself in the distance and let a bit of snow flow with reverence onto my paintings. Will all of the colors find themselves again in my pictures? I only paint with my hands, because I have to touch that which touches me. I feel the colors on the canvas and afterwards, I will return home a bit humbled. I will disembark with my series, which can then also touch the viewer. Perhaps these paintings will go down as witnesses of the passage of time in the history of art and show how important it is to preserve this part of the earth.
