If a car was a home appliance, one that’s heavily relied upon but also an unsung hero of daily life, then the MPV is the most utilitarian of all vehicle categories. I was only reminded of the term ‘white goods’ recently and it quite perfectly described the BYD M6, especially because it’s a no-fuss, unpretentious MPV that also happens to be an EV; and in some ways it’s better off because it is fully electric. The BYD M6 Extended boasts pretty high specification in terms of its powertrain and equipment levels, offering lots of car and 7-seat people mover ability for just under RM124k. However, the range does start at an even more reasonable but still value-packed RM110k, the same price as the smaller and less gutsy Mitsubishi Xpander Plus.
