We left North Carolina and headed to the Macon, GA area to watch our daughter, Makenzie, play in a golf tournament. From there we headed down to the Everglades National Park with an overnighter in Tampa. We stayed at the Flamingo Campground with only about 3 other campers for most of the time. It was great! We did a lot of hiking, biking and some kayaking with the gators. The vast amount of different trees, plants and animals is amazing. If you're coming here we would recommend a few days at Flamingo to do the sights and then maybe stay at Long Pine Key Campground for a few days to do some other attractions. From the entry of the park to Flamingo is 38 miles so it's a good 45 minute drive. Also, we didn't realize Shark Valley was almost 2 hours from Flamingo. So if you stayed at Long Pine, which is only about 6-7 miles from the entry it wouldn't be as long of a drive. The iconic Robert is Here Fruit Stand was ok, but overpriced. If you take the city roads to Shark Valley, there are numerous other fruit stands as well. There is an Airboat Company not far from the entry of the National Park, but there are many other ones to choose from as well. Once again, if you are driving to Shark Valley, there are multiple companies to choose from to take a ride. Homestead, FL is the town outside of the park and there are restaurants and stores like Walmart if you need it. We head to Key West next, so please hit like, subscribe and the notification bell so you know when the next video comes out.
