This time our destination was Dhotrey, a small hamlet situated in the lap of Himalaya on Singalila National Park range. Altitude of Dhotrey is 8700ft. This village is mainly popular for Sandakphu trek. Visitors starts their trekking towards Sandakphu from here. Though there have another routes but it is completely trekking route from Dhotrey through the dark green pine forest and this is not a motorable road. The majestic view of kanchanjungha is another best feature of Dhotrey. Along with the scenic beauty the blooming rododendron and many more colourful flowers and chirping songs of birds will surely fascinate you. There are some homestays for accommodation, some grocerie shops and also a forest village primary school in 10 minutes walking distance from the proper area. There is a watch tower from where beautiful view of Kanchanjungha can be seen if the sky is clear enough. Sometimes when the weather is bad it snows occasionally in Dhotrey. The best time to visit Dhotrey is in the month of October_December. Sandakufu trekking get closed from 16th June upto 15th September every year due to the breeding season of wild animals but you can definitely come to visit Dhotrey to explore it's natural beauty.
