The old General Post Office on St Martin's-le-Grand near St Paul's was one of the wonders of London. Opened in 1829 and demolished in 1912, this great classical building was at the heart of the British postal system for most of the nineteenth century. This film looks at the history of this hugely important but now vanished and almost forgotten building through some of the images that have been made of through the years, with a particular emphasis on depictions from the great age of the Royal Mail coaches.
