Virtual Education Session #3 explores the Santa Monica Airport site and context in more depth, highlighting constraints and opportunities to potential future conversion. Opportunities are discussed through the overarching objective of achieving a sustainable conversion to new public-serving uses. Sustainability is explored through the lenses of environmental, energy, and water resilience, economic self-sufficiency, and social equity. Sustainability strategies are explained and a review of select case studies helps to describe the opportunity to leverage similar strategies on the Santa Monica Airport site.
