Saviour Kasukuwere is not the “Tyson” of Zimbabwean politics he imagines himself to be. He is, in truth, a political opportunist whose record is defined by expediency, factionalism, and the dangerous politics of the stomach. What is most staggering is his refusal to reflect on the damage he helped engineer. From championing the destructive Gamatox purges to the reckless factional games that culminated in the events of November 2017, Kasukuwere has demonstrated a consistent inability to learn from history. A serious political actor studies the consequences of his actions, Kasukuwere simply reinvents himself and proceeds as if the past does not exist. Equally troubling is his continued display of entitlement and casual disrespect toward Zezuru elders and the broader political culture that values counsel, restraint, and historical memory. In our tradition, leadership is not measured by noise, intrigue, or proximity to power, but by humility and respect for those who built the foundation upon which the nation stands. By choosing to align himself with ED and Vene while pretending to occupy a different political posture, Kasukuwere exposes the hollowness of his political project. One cannot claim to represent renewal while simultaneously orbiting the very power structures responsible for Zimbabwe’s current crisis. He must also desist from misleading Vene with corridor gossip disguised as intelligence. Serious politics is not conducted through whispers, factional rumour, and personal vendettas. Treating gossip as intelligence is the hallmark of political immaturity and strategic bankruptcy. If Kasukuwere truly believes Zimbabweans have forgotten his role in the purges, the factionalism, and the betrayals that defined that era, then he profoundly misunderstands the political memory of the people. History is patient, but it is never forgetful. #chigananda #kasukuwere #defendtheconstitution #saynoto2030
