The theater was owned by the city, but the manager Larry Smith knew John Harvey a projectionist who owned Cinerama prints and had a complete Cinerama in his home! All that was needed was over 1,000 letters to convince the landlord they needed to take out 1/4 of the ceiling & seats to install a wall-to-wall, deeply curved (146 degree), floor to roof screen made out of 3/4" wide ribbons so they could build 3 projection booths inside the auditorium to project 3 giant reels of film (over 14 miles per title) using only two prints of the seven titles created in the history making process invented by Fred Waller & Hazard Buzz Reeves, produced by Lowell Thomas, Louis B. Mayer & Michael Todd.
