OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - For the 21st year in a row, the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards highlighted local musicians and celebrated Cincinnati's growing music scene at Memorial Hall on Sunday night. "Everyone has music playing at their venue," Sami Nowlin, from CityBeat Cincinnati, said. "So it's really bringing everyone together in one place to celebrate different genres, all different bands and music." The awards show is Cincinnati's version of The Grammy Awards, where artists get nominated in 19 different categories in everything from hip hop to rock and funk to country, and voting takes place online. For a third year in a row 90 Proof Twang took home top country honors. More winners included punk band The Pistol Mystics. The Blue Wisp Big Band took home top jazz honors and pianist Steve Schmidt dedicated the award to the late John Von Ohlen who was a co-founder of the iconic band and passed away in 2018. Artist of The Year was awarded to Triiibe.
