Dozens of protesters gathered outside the Egyptian Embassy in Dublin on Monday to demand the release of four members of an Irish family caught up in the violence in Cairo. Tempers flared as embassy staff were targeted as representatives of the current military authority in Egypt. Protester Huda Shaar explained they were outside the embassy to support their friends: "They're calling us terrorists, they're calling them terrorists. these are not fighters. They are four civilians, three women and a child. We just want them back. That's the only reason we are here. We don't have any ulterior motive." The Halawa siblings, Ibrahim, Omaima, Fatima and Somaia, who are all Irish citizens, were among the hundreds of people cleared out of the al-Fateh mosque in Cairo when security forces stormed the building.
