The unique video recordings made in 1986 by the former postulant of the Pskov-Pechory (Pskov Caves) Monastery, George Shevkunov (now Metropolitan Tikhon) featuring the prominent Elders of that time, Fr John Krestiankin, Fr Seraphim, Fr Alexander, Fr Melchezidek, Fr Theophan and many others. It relates the stories about the lives of these outstanding people and the monastic life in all its fullness. The monastery is located in the North-west of Russia, close to the Estonian border and it is the only Russian monastery which was never closed, even during the Soviet period, and thus it retained an uninterrupted tradition of Eldership. After watching this video, we recommend that you read the book by Archimandrite Tikhon, “Everyday Saints and Other Stories”, which will provide you with a deeper look into the life of Pskov-Pechory Monastery as it was at that time.
