The Whiskey Crusaders review High West American Prairie Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Select which comes in at 102 proof. It is a blend of straight bourbons between 2 to 13 years old. The mash bill is 75% corn, 21 rye, 4% barley from MGP, 84% corn, 8% rye, 8% barley from Dickel, other components cannot be disclosed due to NDA. New charred white American Oak is where it begins at and then is finished for 11 months in Scotch barrels. This Barrel Select was bottled for High West Fans of TX. We also compared this to the regular High West American Prairie Bourbon Whiskey. It is named for the American Prairie Reserve in Northeastern Montana and goal is for it to be the biggest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states. It will be 5000 sq miles and bigger than Yellow Stone, Yosemite, and Grand Teton combined. The goal is to basically make it look like what Lewis & Clark did when they were traveling with the Indians there and saws herds of bison, pronghorn antelope, and prairie dogs everywhere. The Pronghorn Antelope is the fastest land animal in North America at 55 mph and has the second largest land migration in NA as well of over 500 miles. The Pronghorn Antelope are down in population though by 98% since the 1800s. This bottle was borrowed from fellow Crusader Peter Golden and the standard bearer for Peter Golden Region whisky.
