*Song of Jerusalem* I stand by the window; half the land is in sight, In the damp heat's haze, the mountains fade away. And the road leading to heaven pierces the heights, Winding quickly like a snake, in a patterned display. It's hard to believe: as you ascend to the skies, You suddenly enter the timelessness of Eternity, Where it’s unclear which century lies And in what moment of human reality. Here legends were born, Psalms were written, Here the Temple stood, and the Creator was near. With fortress walls embracing the hills smitten, Jerusalem rises above time, pure and clear. In this city lived kings and prophets of old, Sages, betrayers, liars, and heroes. These walls have seen all: love and cruelty untold, Friendship, betrayal, the wicked, the holy shadows. In the maze of stone paths and steps you explore, One can hear the echoes of human chatter, A bas-relief of words absorbed in the core, The mosaic of languages etched in the clatter. It was twice destroyed, nearly erased, In countless sieges, defended by prayer, But we remember, this city God placed To be the victor in the righteous warfare. There are places on Earth, rare and serene, Where a ladder to heaven connects to the Divine. But this window opens only to those who are clean, When someone arrives with pure thoughts, aligned. How many lands and empires have fought for this city? Greeks, Romans, Persians, Crusaders, Ottomans. Each bringing horror and famine, no pity, Trying to connect with the Highest by false summons. Brutally they destroyed the Temple, claiming the sacred, Attempting to seize control over the earth. To break the Covenant, to reign unabated, To become king or god in Jerusalem’s dearth. Those who challenge the Biblical truth, Their hunger for conquest never seems to tire. But for five thousand years, recorded in proof: This is our capital—Jerusalem, holy and higher. Made using Udio.
