This 138 kV disconnect is equipped with sulfer hexafluoride gas interrupters. In other words, A circuit breaker . A large outage occured after the circuit breaker isolated the Power Transformer from a potential threat detected by our protection relays . This action is necessary to protect not only our equipment , but the public and our environment alike! It was a long day of trouble shooting .. With quick thinking from our awesome team on site and from our dispatchers behind the scene , we were able to fully restore power to our community with a couple hours. Further repairs and tests were made throughout the day, which brings us to the point in which I am able to show you ... In this video , we are remotely closing the 138000 volt switch which energizes the massive transformer behind it.
