Gee Bee Air Rally This guide covers the first 8 levels (of 16) of Ace mode, featuring a playthru of the main levels and the bonus sections. We get to see the in-game 'crash' screens and the rewards, and also experience the thrill of flying with the classic movie 'Test Pilot' from 1938. The video was subsequently banned in all countries because it contained sequences from an old movie I thought nobody would remember. So instead of free advertising of that movie, I decided to edit out those parts and reupload this back to youtube. The original footage and editing files were deleted some time ago to make room for something, so all I had is the final video which I recut. I chopped out almost all the frames of the movie, but left in one sequence to give you a flavour of what this game/movie mashup looked like. But with the later sequences cut, the footage appears rather jarring in some places. Speaking of Jarring. This was recorded at 25fps, and this is a native 60fps game. This is an NTSC game - but I didnt have a clue about PAL vs NTSC back in 2012, so I used a PAL rip and blew that up to 16:9. I feel this is at least better than if I had a big black block of nothing at the bottom of the screen, which always seemed a bit odd even back in the day. However, this game would be much smooth-looking and even faster if I had recorded this in 60fps NTSC - instead of 25fps PAL. I certainly had a lot of fun when making these very early episodes, with some of my favourite games. But its a shame the movie sequences had to be cut. Maybe you can check out the movie Test Pilot, with Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Myrna Loy!
