HMS Eagle was an Audacious-class aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy, in service 1951–1972. Until the arrival of the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers in the 21st century, she and her sister, HMS Ark Royal were the two largest Royal Navy aircraft carriers ever built. In this short film we follow the ship as it transits from Mombasa to Singapore. Its airgroup of fast-jets & helicopters was one of the most potent ever to put to sea by the Royal Navy. At this time her airgroup consisted of Blackburn Buccaneer S.1s of 800 Naval Air Squadron, 899's deHavilland Sea Vixen FAW.2s, Supermarine Scimitar F.1 tanker aircraft of 800B Squadron, Fairey Gannet AEW.1 of 849 Squadron, D Flight and Westland Wessex HAS.1s of 820 Squadron. This is an excellent look back in time to when the Royal Navy and her Fleet Air Arm was one of the most capable strike forces in the world. Thank You All For Watching. Please Like, Share & Subscribe.
