We don't guess. We don't use emotions. We don't adhere to the talking heads that claim "expertise" over us. We only allow the numbers guide us toward ranking every Super Bowl champion from 58th to 1st. I've made a couple of mistakes in the video, first when I said only two teams had ever pitched a defensive shutout in the Super Bowl. I failed to either mention or remember the Dolphins in Super Bowl VII only allowing a blocked field goal for a touchdown. And in a weirdly parallel error, I said only two scores in Super Bowl history have been repeated, when 21-17 were the scores of both X and XLVI. My memory almost always serves me well, but I really oughta double check more often. Below we have an explanation of C-Score, the metric we use to rate every single NFL team from every single season in the Super Bowl era. Even further below, we have the entire countdown. It takes a team's: -Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record -Performance, including game control and play-by-play production -Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included. A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team. A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team.
