The Man of Steel has officially landed in downtown Cleveland, and this time, he’s here to stay. In a celebration that brought together comic book fans, civic leaders, and proud locals, the city of Cleveland unveiled a striking new statue of Superman outside the Huntington Convention Center. Towering atop an 18-foot pillar, the stainless-steel figure now watches over the city where his story began nearly a century ago. “We’re thrilled to welcome Superman to the Convention Center. Every guest who visits us will now see a piece of Cleveland’s history and a reminder that this city helped launch a global icon,” said Tim Meyer, executive director of the Cuyahoga County Convention Facilities Development Corporation which operates and manages the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. But this isn’t just about Superman. The newly named "Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster Tribute Plaza" honors the two Cleveland teenagers who dreamed up the iconic superhero in the 1930s. Sculptor David Deming’s work doesn’t stop at the caped crusader—bronze statues of Siegel, Shuster, and Joanne Siegel (the original inspiration for Lois Lane) stand nearby, grounding the fantasy in real-life creativity and grit.
