Once in Porto, we explore charming historic areas and famous landmarks, including Rua de Heróis do Ultramar, the bustling area near the iconic Majestic Cafe (though we skipped going inside due to long lines), Praça Dom João I, the impressive Clérigos Tower—the tallest bell tower in Portugal—and the majestic Cathedral. We also discover unique local gems, such as two fascinating churches separated by one narrow house near the famous Lello bookstore (we admired from outside due to the crowd), stroll down the picturesque Rua das Flores, soak in the atmosphere at Praça da Liberdade, and marvel at the grandeur of Avenida dos Aliados. A special highlight is our walk across the magnificent Dom Luís I Bridge, an iconic iron structure connecting Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. The bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the beautiful Douro River, especially magical during sunset. The day concludes with an unforgettable port wine tasting experience in a delightful garden setting. Described as one of the best in Porto, it featured friendly and knowledgeable staff, an engaging audio-guided tour, and personalized explanations that made the tasting truly memorable.
