Former BSP MLA Chhote Singh Chauhan has been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with a 1994 double murder case. After being convicted on September 8, his sentencing was announced on September 11. Chauhan surrendered before the MP-MLA Court and was immediately taken into custody. The case, which stemmed from political rivalry during local elections, involved the killing of Rajkumar alias Raja Bhaiya and Jagdish Sharan in Binoura Baidh village. The trial, which began in 1995, saw several delays and was even withdrawn by the state government in 2005. However, the Supreme Court later quashed the withdrawal and ordered the trial to be expedited.
