This channel will take you on a journey into the rich, often-overlooked history of four Mexican barrios in the coastal region of Western Los Angeles County, collectively known as Las Cuatro Esquinas (or "The Four Corners"), which includes Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, and West Los Sotel. Before gentrification and urban redevelopment reshaped these neighborhoods, they were home to generations of working-class Mexican families who built lives of resilience, dignity, and cultural pride. From laborers and veterans to domestic workers and community organizers, their stories reveal how ordinary people shaped the identity and history of Los Angeles’s West Side. Through archival photographs, oral histories, and cinematic storytelling, our channel brings these communities to life—documenting local traditions, family histories, and struggles against displacement and erasure. Each episode connects these local experiences to larger movements in Chicano history, social justice, and urban change. Our mission is to preserve memory, honor community, and inspire a deeper understanding of place. Join us as we rediscover the hidden history of the West Side—where every street and story carries the legacy of those who came before us. Subscribe and help us keep this history alive.
