So, let’s talk about the weekend. Sunday was the first race back since running Manchester marathon 5 months before. I’ve had a pretty bad injury in the time between. I’ve had a massive flare-up in my left groin which set me out of the game for a good 4 weeks of no running and then 5 weeks of building back some easy mileage before sessions. I’ve had a few weeks of smaller sessions to build in consistency before I managed to hit 3 weeks of normal training again! I wanted a race to see where I was at and that race was Overton 5 miles. For those of you who don’t know, Overton is a bit bumpy, it is by no means the quickest course containing about 300ft of elevation gain in the 5 miles which the majority of is leg-sapping steep inclines. But as I said, I wanted a race to break me back in to the racing circuit, so a more lowkey 5miler to test fitness is what I chose.
