Inside of the concentration camps established by the SS during the Second World War, were a number of female guards who were known for their brutal actions. Women such as Irma Grese, Elizabeth Volkenrath and Johanna Borman were known for their horrific treatment of prisoners at camps such as Auschwitz. For this they would be executed, but they were captured at Bergen-Belsen, a concentration camp where the conditions were so bad that thousands of people were dying each week in 1945. A number of female guards such as Herta Bothe, Ilse Forster and Annelise Kohlmann were imprisoned for their violent actions, and witnesses at the Belsen Trials told of their horrific treatment. Bergen-Belsen was a nightmare for the liberators and the prisoners who were living within the barbed wire fences. But what shocked many was that the perpetrators of such evil were young women, and women who had followed Hitler's ideas inside the camp. Many of these women had killed with their bare hands, and a number of them had sent prisoners to their deaths. But these women were feared, and they were often known by nicknames such as 'The Hyena of Auschwitz,' or the 'Woman With The Dog.' They were terrifying beasts, and paraded around concentration camps as if they were the princesses. Join us today as we look at, 'The EVIL Princesses Of Bergen-Belsen.'
