Florida Gun Laws: What You NEED to Know for 2025

If you are an avid hunter, antique gun collector, former law enforcement, a veteran, or a concerned parent or citizen thinking about moving to Florida with guns you likely have some questions about Florida gun laws and how they differ from your state. In this video, I will answer questions such as can you constitutional carry in Florida? Can you open carry in Florida? Florida gun laws have been described as some of the weakest in the US, which is surprising considering Florida is one of only four states that do not allow open carry. If you're moving from somewhere like California and will be bringing guns into Florida, you should know that our laws are quite different. For example, Florida does not require you to register handguns. It should also be noted that the terms constitutional carry, permitless carry, and unrestricted carry are often used interchangeably. Constitutional carry means that a state’s law does not prohibit citizens who can legally possess a firearm from carrying one, openly and/or in a concealed manner. It simply means no permit is required to carry a firearm. Some organizations differentiate between constitutional and permitless by stating permitless carry means there may be additional restrictions to carrying (having recent DUIs is a commonly used example), but for the most part they're used interchangeably. Governor DeSantis refers to it as constitutional carry, as well. After privately signing the bill, Desantis made a single public comment. "Constitutional Carry is in the books."
