Splatter Camp™ is a full-length feature film that tells the story of a group of young filmmakers who, while filming a documentary at the long since closed CAMP CANDY, discover that the legend of SCARY LARRY (an intentionally-goofy nickname given to the Camp's resident Killer) may be more than just fiction when a string of murders start picking them off, one-by-one. Splatter Camp will be an old-school style Slasher Film with undertones of black comedy and elements of modern-day meta. The film takes inspiration from, and will pay homage to, 80's horror films and their villainous icons, especially that of Jason Voorhees and the beloved Friday the 13th franchise he belongs to. The idea for Splatter Camp came to writer/director Brandon Tobatto when attempts to reach Paramount Pictures with a pitch for a new 'Friday the 13th film' failed. Out of this disappointment, Tobatto carried over almost all of the elements and story beats of that original treatment, molding the final product and transforming it into its very own version of Friday the 13th... WITHOUT BEING 'Friday the 13th'. Can you dig it? ;) What was born from that process and rework was a self-aware, 80's throwback slasher story, with likable characters, purposely campy scenes, intentionally parodying dialogue, and a new franchise icon that is, himself, aware of and inspired by his horror idol: Jason Voorhees. This, of course, is the character of 'Scary Larry' (whose REAL NAME shall be revealed in the film itself), and it has become apparent, judging from the screenplay, that even HE would give Jason a run for his money; this killer will be unlike any on-screen slasher mascot you've ever seen! Without the financial backing of a major studio, we have decided to fund and produce the film independently, with positions both in front of and behind the cameras being filled by either long-time Team Tobatto members, or picked from the pools of both independent actors and filmmakers alike. This will be the fundraising campaign that decides whether Splatter Camp is a small-time, low-budget little indie horror FLICK, or a well-funded, masterfully polished, independent slasher FILM! We here at Decomposing Pictures truly believe that if we are blessed with the funds to grab this opportunity by the heels, Splatter Camp will be a slasher movie unlike anything you've ever seen before! Our fundraising goal of $10,000 will contribute to the full scope and scale of this project, from principle photography to post-production, and of course, give our believers the opportunity to walk away with some really great backer rewards. With the pledges made by our backers, Splatter Camp will begin principle photography in late Fall of 2020 in Rutledge, Georgia, at the CAMP DANIEL MORGAN campground, which also happens to be the very same FILMING SITE of Camp Crystal Lake in Tommy McLoughlin's 1986 SLASHER MASTERPIECE: "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives"! Decomposing Pictures is a film production house that exclusively produces horror films. It was founded by Brandon Tobatto in the mid-2000's, and is a subsidiary of Tobatto's parent company, Tobatto Entertainment Industries. Since its formation, DP has released several low-budget horror films, both for free viewing on Youtube, as well as for purchase on sites such as Amazon.com. Some of the more 'popular' films in the DP catalogue consist of 2018's 'Madhouse', 2017's 'Cottontail', 2016's 'Loons', and the 2015 slasher epic 'Loon', which has surpassed 1,730,000+ VIEWS on Youtube! As previously stated, we plan on making SPLATTER CAMP as big as we can, so you can count on us doing our absolute best to hire the upmost experienced professionals from the independent circuit; those willing to devote their lives and time to the Splatter Camp cause!
