Railfanning the Norfolk District - 11-8-25

After hearing about a heritage unit duo on NS 820, NS 8101 on 826, which I didn't know was still in Roanoke, and 798, which I thought had power that was actually on another train, I decided to try to catch them. Met up with ‪@NorfolkSouthernedProductions‬ as he had already been out for a few hours, also trying to catch them. The first train I saw was NS 272, which had been stopped near the intermediates to wait for Amtrak 158, which had passed. after that, nothing for nearly three hours. 798 had to stop for a crew change as well as 820, which ended up tying down. At this point, 798, 820, and a 275 were all on the same track and stopped. after a few hours of the district east of Suffolk being dead, Amtrak 153 came through with a P42 leader! At this point 798 was on the move again with an empty coal train, NS 821, also on the way. 821 came through first with a P5 leader, which I hadn't seen in a while, then finally 798. Unfortunately didn't see 820, but still had a good day.
