Let's take a walk on La Duarte in Santo Domingo! Note - The camera got adjusted while I was walking and I didn't notice so many of the camera angles came out bad in this video. Sorry about that Today we are taking a walk through the Mercado Chino in Barrio Chino. Every Sunday you can find these pop up tents with vendors serving food, drinks, shakes, boba tea, fresh fish, fruis, vegetables and other goods. There is always a healthy crowd of folks out enjoying the sights and sounds and it's a great place to stop by and check out. Located just north of Chinatown, La Duarte or Duarte Avenue is named after perhaps the most famous/important figure in the struggle for Dominican Independence - Juan Pablo Duarte, a member of the Trinitarios. There are many storefronts run or owned by local (and Chinese) vendors as well as a plethora of little shops and stalls. These shops and stalls sell basically everything you could imagine at low prices. The area is well known for resale - lots of people buy things in bulk from "La Duarte" and then open little shops and stalls in their own neighborhoods within Santo Domingo or even in other cities/campos (countryside villages/towns)
