During my vanguard effort in securing a meta alloy site for the repair of Canonn Research facilities that recently came under UA bombing, I encountered Thargoid Interceptors resupplying at said site. The Barnacles are long speculated to be the Thargoid's point for supplies, it only makes sense to strategically intercept the Interceptors I encountered (pun intended). A few things learned from the skirmish that might help both combat pilots and researchers: A second Thargoid Interceptor will be summoned if the initial Thargoid Interceptor is under threat/attack. This speaks to the importance of the barnacle to the Thargoids, similar to how they summon an Interceptor for scooping cargo of interest with haste when they are present in large numbers. Also, judging from the angle the second Thargoid exited the wormhole, line of sight for their hyperspace travel is not an issue at all. They pretty much phased through the entire planet. Thargon Swarm is not usable planet-side, this is most likely due to the individual Thargon's thruster being too weak to counter gravity. Lightning, shutdown field, and Caustic missiles are still operational. Thargoid Interceptors themselves do suffer from gravity reducing their thrusts, at least from what I can tell (but are still agile from a pure turning perspective). But they prefer to perform combat above 3km from surface, and will try to keep itself a safe distance from the ground by performing "up floating" maneuvers whenever too close to the ground and not in immediate dog fighting. Getting shut down while maneuvering or not paying attention to one's attitude is lethal. Even at 0.3 g, the gravity threw off my aim and made me overestimate my thrusters (heated up my ship faster, which is not good for Gauss). I crashed to the ground once, and almost did again when I got shut down and was drifting into the ground. Slight stutters in the video. I think planet side Thargoid combat is un-optimized, as in it's not intended to happen, at least not yet (Or my PC needs an upgrade, who knows).
