The 1992 Circuit of Ireland Rally was to be one of those Events that started out with obvious favourites for victory in 4WD High Spec Rally Cars but ended up with a Victory for a 2WD Car with a Legendary Driver at the Wheel, the Cars fancied for Victory were to be the Subaru Legacy`s of Kenny McKinstry and Bertie Fisher who was on his debut Run for Subaru along with Austin McHale in the ex TTE Toyota Celica GT4,as expected the 4WD Group A Machinery led from the start with McKinstry dominating with Fisher and McHale locked in a battle for 2nd place, Austin McHale got a puncture and Bertie Fisher retired with a Mechanical issue after 7 stages so McKinstry was comfortable in the lead, Kenny traded times with Austin McHale particularly as the Rally headed South but was still in a commanding position up front but on the 3rd day of the Rally this was all to change with Austin McHale in the Celica first to go on Stage 24 with a Mechanical Issue and 3 stages later Kenny McKinstry went out when his Legacy suffered a similar fate, this left Frank Meagher in his 2WD Sierra Cosworth in the lead and that is where Frank stayed to score a comfortable Victory of over 7 min from David Greer in a similar Car, it was to be a most popular victory for the quiet Man from Tipperary and just shows how important reliability is in such a long Event like this Circuit of Ireland is, we thank Michael O`Carroll and all his Team along with Pat Sullivan Carrignavar for the use of this Footage, Do Enjoy.
