San Antonio Police Critical Incident Video Release: 2600 N Loop 1604 W

Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, SAPD is releasing video from the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on May 9th, 2025, at the 2600 block of North 1604 West. Shortly after 12:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of North 1604 West for a theft. Upon arrival the officer contacted the suspect outside the location where the suspect physically attacked the officer. The officer used his pepper spray to subdue the suspect, but it was ineffective. The suspect attempted to grab the officer’s gun at which time the officer unholstered his weapon and fired several shots, striking the suspect. Life-saving measures were performed on the suspect, and he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. No other officers or bystanders were injured. The officer involved will be placed on administrative duty until further notice. Both the SAPD Shooting Team and the Internal Affairs Unit will conduct separate, concurrent inquiries regarding the shooting. Their findings will be sent to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for an independent review. This is all the information we are releasing at this time as this is an active investigation.
