Four things that I really like are beer, Bourbon, coffee and chocolate. Because of my propensity toward these flavors, barrel aged stouts are one of the styles that I gravitate toward pretty much year-round. It is important to not that the flavors in Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstout are derived from a collaborative effort and mind melding between Will Wheaton, Drew Curtis and Greg Koch. Lets see what flavors this crew of self proclaimed geeks had come up with and if Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstoutdelivers. Enjoy the show! Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstout Written review follows: Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstout WRITTEN REVIEW: A- Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstout pours a black / super dark brown body with a 1 finger mocha colored head that reduces fairly quickly. Decent glass lacing is left behind as the head dissipates. Alcohol legs coat the inside of the glass. S- The most aromas are revealed by letting this one warm up. Chocolate, coffee, leather, vanilla, oak and subtle bourbon aromas come through. This is rounded out by a pleasant peanut like scent from the pecans. T- The taste follows the nose fairly well. Upfront it's roasty with dark chocolate, coffee followed by a sweetness in the finish. The bourbon is subtle but present, adding vanilla and oak notes. The finish is somewhat nutty and roasty with a flavor that is like a cross between almond and peanut. No pronounced rye flavor was detected in the taste. M- As the beer warms up it actually thickens a bit to a medium full level that coats the mouth. Very rich. Very little alcohol detected, which is good considering it's 13% alcohol. This beer is dangerously easy to drink and has a palate cleansing sort of carbonation. O- Stone Farking Wheaton wOOtstout is an impressive collaboration brew. The pecan, and partial Bourbon BBL aging really gave this one an edge over Stone IRS. After drinking this beer, I sense that it will improve with age and some of the current disjunct notes will refine and flavors will integrate more completely. Tie will make this beer more dangerous since the alcohol is already really well hidden given that it is a 13% ABV brew. Seek this beer out and grab two bottles.
