The main groove (for instance bars 7-8) isn’t very difficult, but it grooves! I like the way Hamish Stuart ends the main groove in the intro (bar 10). Again: not difficult: but what a nice bassline! In the main groove Hamish varies his 16th notes; sometimes as ghost note (bar 7) but most of the time with a natural note as in bar 24 (note = C). At the end of the bridge again a really nice melodic line (bar 27). Please mind playing the sixteenth notes on the third and fourth beat really short (staccato). This gives a nice ‘answer’ to the long notes on the first and second count. One of my favorite licks in this song is in bar 50: staccato (short) 16th notes followed by hammer on notes (F# and G). And what about the fast 16th licks such as in bar 51 and 53. Really nice to play these licks tight! And of course there’s this high lick in bar 66 and 70. The notes are the same as in for instance bar 10, but an octave higher. Enjoy the licks in Bridge 3; such as bar 90 where Hamish plays a ghost note on the fourth count followed by the F# note. Really nice! Although this song is in the key of D major (which give two accidentals ##), I’ve chosen to not use these accidentals at the beginning of each sentence, because you could say that the bridge and the Verse are in the key of C, and the part in D major got a lot of dominant notes (D9 including the 7th dominant note = C). SO also there: most of the time no C# notes. Enjoy this old school soul/funky song!!
