We explore the derelict former headquarters of the Haynes Publishing Group in Sparkford, Somerset. This once-thriving hub was where the iconic Haynes manuals were created, starting with John Haynes' first book in 1956 and the official founding of J.H. Haynes & Co. Ltd. in 1960. Sparkford became the central location in 1972, witnessing the global success of these essential DIY guides, selling over 200 million copies worldwide. Beyond cars, Haynes also published manuals for motorcycles, appliances, and even parody titles.   However, in 2013, the Sparkford site closed as the company shifted its focus to professional and digital resources. The chief executive at the time stated the location no longer suited a modern publishing business due to changes in the book market. Since its closure, the site has remained largely abandoned, with reports even suggesting a large-scale cannabis growing operation was once active there.
