This project was created to give fans an audio and video representation of the DTK/Alive! touring cycle and as an overview of this exciting time just before KISS exploded into the super-star group they became following DESTROYER. On May 16th, 1975 the band and producer Eddie Kramer recorded their sold-out concert at Detroit's Cobo Arena show for new a live album. However, unhappy with the final results, they later recorded 4 more concerts on that tour which ended up comprising the Alive! album. This video uses most of the Detroit show along with a few other sources to create an "alternate" version of Alive! and what have been if they had decided to release that first recorded show. I have remixed the audio that was included in the Alive! box set. A few songs were not recorded that night in Detroit and are taken from other performances to create a "show" that includes all of the material performed live during this period. For the video, I have used all of the footage that is known to exist from that actual Detroit concert which includes snippets of silent film and a 3-camera video of the last 6 songs of the show. The day before this concert, KISS set up at Michigan Palace for a combined photo shoot and video shoot for 2 promotional videos ("C'mon and Love Me" and "Rock and Roll All Nite"). They also filmed pieces of their live show including Gene's fire breathing, Paul's "100,000 Years" raps and parts of "Black Diamond" to be used in the TV commercial for the Alive! album. I have taken all of this footage along with various 8mm fan films, TV appearances and bits of later concerts from Largo, MD and Detroit to "simulate" a full visual experience to accompany this "alternate" live album. Keep in mind that most of what you "see" the band playing is often different songs which were creatively edited since there is no footage at all for the majority of this "concert". I only did minimal fixes to a few spots, mainly due to dropped drum sticks, badly out of tune guitars or botched lyrics. Overall, this is a fundamentally "raw" version of what the band sounded like during this period. For a couple songs, I have taken the drums from a different show and replaced them in the Detroit songs due to technical issues or because the sound quality was much better. For example, Peter's snare in "Cold Gin" sounds like the bottom snares were either "off" the drum or broken giving the snare an odd sound. This was not something he normally did, so I can only assume there was some issue. Similarly, he appears to either drop a stick or maybe he is adjusting his boom mic in "Black Diamond" causing the snare to be completely "missing" for huge chunks of the song. I have also added some grit to gene's bass sound to make it sound more like his live sound and the guitars have been swapped with Paul on the left side and Ace on the right side which is how they are panned on virtually every other KISS album. I have also moved songs around a bit to create a more natural flow since they had a very unusual setlist for the Detroit show. This also allowed me to spread the footage our more evenly since there was very little film or video of the first hour of the show compared to last few songs. Below is the setlist of the songs and their sources. None of the songs used are the same versions from the official Alive! release making this a completely unique version. 00:00 "Rock Bottom" (Detroit, MI) 04:37 "Strutter" (Detroit, MI) 08:18 "Two Timer" (Detroit, MI) 11:48 "Hotter Than Hell" (Davenport 2nd show/vocals Wildwood, NJ) 14:59 "Firehouse" (Detroit, MI) 19:22 "Ladies In Waiting" (Largo, MD) 21:50 "Nothin' To Lose" (Detroit, MI) 25:56 "Got To Choose" (Detroit, MI) 29:35 "Watchin' You" (Davenport, IA soundcheck) 33:17 "Let me Know" (Detroit, MI) 36:52 "She" (Detroit, MI/drums Wildwood, NJ) 41:27 "Ace Solo" (Detroit, MI/Largo, MD) 44:05 "Room Service" (Davenport soundcheck/vocals created using alternate takes from the DTK boxset) 47:32 "Parasite" (Detroit, MI) 51:03 "C'mon And Love Me" (Detroit, MI) 54:08 "Deuce" (Detroit, MI) 57:47 "100,000 Years" (Detroit, MI/drum solo Davenport 2nd show) 1:07:50 "Cold Gin" (Detroit, MI/drums Wildwood, NJ) 1:14:04 "Black Diamond" (Detroit, MI/drums Davenport 2nd show) 1:21:06 Rock And Roll All Nite" (Detroit, MI) 1:25:40 "Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll" (Detroit, MI/ending jam Wildwood, NJ) You can download the Audio/Video files directly using this link... https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
