Estimated Project Time: 2 hours Technical Difficulty: Easy Strength Difficulty: Moderate-Hard (It will be harder the more miles you have on the car) Parts list: O2 Sensor ($220-280 for both sensors, though only one is used in this video) Sensor removal tool ($10 or rental. All O2 sensors are the same size, but as I found out, some designs only allow for specific form factors) 10mm ratchet to remove battery Penetrating oil (help loosen the old sensor) Breaker Bar (help loosen old sensor) Small screw driver (to release the latch holding the O2 sensor connector) A visual guide to replacing the upper O2 sensor on a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. Basic tips, tricks, and general walk through on the process. While the concept is very easy (detach electrical connection, unscrew old part, screw in new part, and reattach electrical), the O2 sensor will likely be seized in place. I highly suggest using some form of penetrating oil or breaker fluid, as well as the use of a breaker bar on your ratchet to help remove the old sensor. Running the car for a few minutes to heat up the parts can help loosen things up as well; but beware that the exhaust system gets very hot, so be very careful if you do this. Sorry about the video jump in the introduction; My first take at the introduction was better, but I felt I had to change a few things after completing the project.
