Tips on how you get pillow-soft bread at home: DO THE WINDOWPANE TEST The windowpane test is very useful when making bread. This test is used if your bread dough has been sufficiently kneaded. If you don't knead your bread dough enough, your bread will lack an airy and light texture. Over-kneaded dough gives you bread that is dense. To prevent these, check your dough by doing the Windowpane test.
