Tim Harper plays "Neptune" by Timothy Craig Harrison arr. Tim Harper

The title of this march refers to the codename of the Normandy Landings, D Day, June 6th 1944. "Neptune" was composed for Ripon City Band at the request of their conductor, Mark Sidwell, for the 80th anniversary celebrations of D Day . The work is intended as a tribute to the memory of all those involved in the D Day operations. It also doffs my cap to the Grewelthorpe branch of the Royal British Legion whose centenary, by happy chance, fell in 2024. The score was completed on 21st March 2024 and was first performed in Ripon Cathedral by Ripon City Band with Richard Martin (organ) on June 6th 2024 . In this recording Tim Harper performs his own stunning arrangement for organ, written for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of VE Day in 2025. I am hugely indebted to Tim Harper for this wonderful arrangement and for the many performances of "Neptune" that he has given.
