Adrienne Shelly was an American actor, director, and screenwriter. She married her husband Andy Ostroy in two thousand two and it was during her pregnancy with the couple’s daughter, Sophie, that Shelly wrote the script for her two thousand-seven hit film ‘Waitress.’ The film starred Nathan Fillion, Keri Russell, and Shelly herself. Tragically, she would not live to see its success. November 1st two thousand and six, Ostroy dropped Shelly off at her Greenwich office apartment at nine-thirty that morning but, after not hearing from her for the entire day, he returned to the office building just before six p.m. Ostroy discovered Shelly’s body hanging by a bed sheet from her bathroom shower curtain rod. When the bathroom was processed, a strange, drywall-dusted, sneaker print was found on the toilet seat. When investigators looked into the construction work that was happening in Shelly’s building they found the corresponding shoes for the prints belonged to nineteen-year-old construction worker Diego Pillco. Pillco was arrested on the sixth and confessed to Shelly’s murder. He changed his story many times, but it is almost certainly true that Pillco entered Shelly’s office to steal from her before beating her in the head and strangling her.
