The Bharat Progress Report 2025 (BPR 2025) maps India’s ascending role on the global stage through landmark diplomatic and trade achievements. Significant milestones include India-UK and India-Oman trade deals granting zero-duty or duty-free access for the vast majority of Indian exports, alongside the activation of free-trade pacts with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. Strategically, India launched the MAHASAGAR doctrine for the Global South, hosted the first Africa-India Key Maritime Engagement naval exercise, and signed a $2 billion deal with Russia to lease a nuclear-powered attack submarine. Diplomatic outreach was further highlighted by President Draupadi Murmu becoming the first Indian Head of State to visit Angola and Botswana, and the resumption of direct air connectivity with China after five years.
