Confronting challenges of remote work when “living in limbo” - Migration Summit 2023

This planel explored the impact of "living in limbo" on a displaced person's ability to work, the challenges remote work can bring, and ways to overcome these through collaboration between NGOs, refugees, and employers. Our panelists include representatives from the NGO Open Door Policy, the language learning platform somos and refugees who have entered the remote workforce. This session aims to raise awareness of the acute employment challenges faced by refugees living in limbo and offer pathways for refugees looking for work to find supportive communities, NGOs, and employers to help make it happen. It is an opportunity to hear from various groups involved in ensuring refugees have access to fair and decent work and to discuss best practices in refugee hiring and support in the workplace.
