Hardships of Dating After 70 in the Philippines / Are you getting played on dating apps in the Philippines? Mike's Philippine Retirement / MPR - Life Abroad After 60 In this video I talk honestly about what it’s like trying to date again as an older expat living in the Philippines — especially in places like Dumaguete and Cebu where the “expat bubble” is real and the dating pool can feel recycled. I break down why dating apps feel obsolete now, how the “pay to play” model pulls you in, and why so many guys end up emotionally drained trying to figure out who’s real and who’s running a game. The truth is, a lot of women on these apps are on multiple platforms at the same time, messaging dozens of men a week — looking for the one or two who will send money, provide support, or get pulled into online “relationship” talk without ever meeting in real life. Then we get into the bigger problem: Facebook. Facebook isn’t what it was 10–15 years ago. Between reels, followers, subscriptions, and AI-generated images, you can end up spending hours doing detective work just to figure out if a person is even real. And for a man over 50 or 60, that gets old fast. I also talk about expat drama — the small-town effect — and why dating inside expat bubbles can lead to unnecessary stress. Sometimes the best move is getting out of your comfort zone: travel, slow down, meet people the old-school way, and build real connections in real life. If you’re retiring in the Philippines, living here now, or thinking about moving here and dating later in life, this video is for you. In this video we cover: Why dating apps feel “pay to play” Scammers and message-farming behavior AI photos and fake Facebook profiles Why Facebook dating is emotionally draining The Dumaguete/Cebu expat bubble problem Why travel + real-life social skills work better Slow dating: don’t rush into Mrs. Wrong 👇 Comment below: Have you been asked for money within the first hour of chatting? ✅ Share your experiences in the comments! 🔔 Don’t forget to subscribe for more honest expat advice. 👉 Subscribe for more real talk about retirement abroad, expat life, and dating overseas.
