I break down my ownership of my 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 SuperBee. Background on the car- I purchased it on March 5, 2022. Vehicle had 87,000 miles on it and I negotiated the price down to 21K. March 27, 2022 the CEL came on for a Cylinder misfire. This resulted in being the cam and lifters failing. I had the motor rebuilt, heads re surfaced and polished, all new gaskets, new timing set, water pump, hellcat lifters, and a stage 1 Comp Cam. The charger already had a mopar cold air intake and strut tower brace as well. The rebuild took about 2 and half months. Since it was now cammed, I had to get it tuned. First tuning shop I took it to had it 5-6 weeks and everytime I tried to drive it, it would stall out when slowing down from 2nd to 1st gear. Eventually, he gave me the car back and said he couldn't fix the stalling issue. I took it to a second tuner; he had the car 7 weeks. He dyno tuned the car and it made 442 horsepower to the wheels and 439 pound feet of torque. However, he also couldn't get the car to stop stalling at random. After paying over $8,300 in repairs over 7 months of ownership I traded it in. Buyer beware. These are beautiful and powerful cars but cam and lifter failure is a very possible outcome, even at 87,000 miles. Buy a warranty and beware of expensive repairs in the future.
