Christmas chicken is a holiday tradition created by the KFC Japanese Marketing team back in the 1970's. After a group of US foreigners settled to eat fried chicken instead of the traditional holiday turkey KFC Japan monetized on the idea of marketing their fried chicken as a holiday dish. Surprisingly the idea took of and has become a a Japanese traditional where KFC expects to serve 3.6 million Japanese household come the holiday season.
