NBC Boston - Two very different Massachusetts institutions are dealing with the aftershocks of the newly released Epstein files — one facing pressure over a leader's past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the other grappling with the rapid spread of online misinformation. The files have reopened old questions while creating new controversies closer to home, underscoring how far Epstein's controversy continues to reach. Pressure mounts at Harvard-linked organization At Harvard University, The Harvard Crimson reports that members of the Hasty Pudding are circulating a petition calling for the removal of board chair Andrew Farkas. The petition also seeks to rename a building dedicated to Farkas' father. According to emails cited in the Epstein files, Farkas visited Epstein's private island and spoke highly of him, at one point referring to Epstein as "one of the blessings" in his life and "one of the bravest men I've ever known." In a statement given to The New York Times, Farkas said he deeply regrets associating with Epstein, but maintains that he never engaged in any inappropriate conduct.
