Fishery Audit #1: Wolfie Pond, Chesterfield… Permits cheaper than a McDonald’s!

It’s been many years since I’ve fished/visited the Wolfie Pond in Chesterfield and after seeing just how much work Chris and the team have put in I thought I’d give you all my verdict. Recent stock checks revealed a large amount of juvenile Pike which as lovely as they are can cause major feeding pressure issues. Too many pike in a venue can cause starvation of other pike especially the larger Pike. High numbers of young juveniles can also put pressure on all other species too as their feed content on small fish is very regular. So the Alma Fishing Club has recently removed a large amount of these juvenile Pike and a good number of Large Pike have been left in the lake. These large Pike will now experience uninterrupted feeding patterns and allow the same great sport for Pike anglers. After recent talks with Chris there is going to be more stocks added to the venue to promote the current healthy fish stocks and boost angling appeal. No better time to stock a lake than mid November. Whilst there I wanted to give you all a 360° of the venue picking out all the benefits and show you just how much attention had gone into this lake. As you all know I’m not afraid to pick up on litter, damage, neglect or even call out a club or management for poorly maintaining a fishery. Where wildlife is concerned I think publicly outing individuals is a small price to pay. Well I’ll tell you now that this place is the perfect fishery and the prices make it hard to disagree too.
