How to Make Compost Tea

Compost Tea is a simple brew that’s filled with good bacteria your soil and plants will love. Supplies Needed: Compost or Worm Castings Bucket Water Molasses Long spoon or stick to stir with Take a handful of compost and place into a bucket of water. Add two tablespoons of molasses and stir the “compost tea” at least once every 24 hours, for a few days. Pour the tea liberally at the base of plants. It may also be sprayed onto plant leaves to protect them from fungi and diseases. Aquarium or bubble aerators are optional and may be used to add even more oxygen to the compost tea brew, which further multiplies the amount of good bacteria. This tool can be purchased at your local hardware or aquarium store. Compost tea may be effectively created using simple tap water from your municipality. If you would like to ensure even more beneficial bacteria are created, use distilled or natural spring water.
