One of the most popular locations in the world, BELLAGIO is located on the central promontory of Lake Como, from where the shores of the two branches of the lake can be reached by boat or ferry. Reachable from Como also by sailing, in Bellagio you can visit the parks of Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. The first, leaning towards the stretch of water on the promontory where the lake forks, is due to Alessandro Serbelloni, exponent of one of the noblest and wealthiest Lombard families, who had carriage tracks, avenues and paths built for a total length of about 18 kilometers. On the other hand, sculptures and architectures dot the garden of Villa Melzi, designed by Luigi Canonica with the botanist Luigi Villoresi, who were the authors of the arrangement of the Monza Park. Terraces and small bumps make the landscape unique and lively. Sundials, astrolabes, marine chronometers: for those who love maritime history, a stop at the Museum of navigation instruments is mandatory, set up in an ancient tower house in San Giovanni di Bellagio. Over two hundred objects loaded with centuries and narratives are exhibited, which tell of orientation, discoveries, new worlds.
