Dr Eyitayo (Tayo) Opabola Research Fellow at University College London (UCL) In this seminar Dr Eyitayo (Tayo) Opabola from UCL EPICentre will discuss the Seismic Assessment and Nonlinear Modelling of As-Built and Rehabilitated Concrete Structures with Bond Deficiencies: A Failure Mode-Based Approach. Due to the presence of inadequate lap splices and/or smooth longitudinal reinforcement in critical structural components, several pre-1970 concrete buildings are susceptible to a bond-controlled failure mechanism. In this seminar, Tayo from UCL EPICentre will discuss the development of a failure mode-based approach for seismic assessment and nonlinear modelling of as-built and rehabilitated concrete structures with bond deficiencies. The proposed approach can be adopted in structural analysis packages such as Opensees and SAP2000. The applicability of the proposed approach to concrete buildings and bridges is demonstrated.
